Cheers! We’re Zachary and Alyssa, or more casually know as Zach and Lyss! We are excited for the opportunity to introduce ourselves and share a little bit about the faces behind Zach and Lyss Travel. Read on to get to know us!

What inspired it all?

As two adults in our thirties who are passionate about travel, social media, and each other (most days), we were looking for a creative outlet to further explore and share our passions. And thus, Zach and Lyss Travel was born! We are excited to share our favorite, most unique, and overall best travel spots, adventures, hikes, experiences, accommodations, trips, itineraries, and everything and anything else in relation to travel. We truly can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us!

But that still begs the question, who are we??

Zach is a gutter installer from Dallas, Texas. He grew up playing hockey and is a huge fan of the Dallas Stars. He enjoys golf, drinking beer, and being creative. Zach is the best dog dad, and is often referred to as an animal whisperer. As a kid, he had every pet imaginable; from cats and dogs to sugar gliders and iguanas…you name it, little Zach brought it home. This has lead him to grow into one of the most patient and nurturing men you will ever meet. One of Zach’s best qualities, especially when it comes to travel, is how easy going he is. He is always willing to try anything, do anything, and just go with the flow as long as there is a good time to be had!

Alyssa is a collegiate cheer coach and bartender from Westchester, NY. She cheered at the University of Connecticut, and is a huge Huskies fan. She enjoys spending time with family, all things makeup and beauty, and dreaming up her next adventure. As a kid, Alyssa was a tremendous tomboy, which is most likely what inspired her love now for nature and thrills…she is definitely not afraid of a challenge or to get her hands dirty in the process. One of Alyssa’s best (and sometimes worst) qualities is that she is a researcher and a planner, so you can guarantee on any trip that she has already mapped out the best spots and discovered every hidden gem there is to find!

Enough of the boring stuff, now for the real stars!

These are our two adventure buddies and absolute best friends, Franklin Reginald and Waldo Beans, or as we typically refer to them, Frank and Beans. Waldo, our Husky, is our our older pup. He is super mellow and extremely affectionate, and loves to go on walks, runs, and hikes. Franklin, our younger doggy, is an English Cream Retriever. He is curious and playful and eager for everyone’s attention, but never strays too far from mom or dad (especially dad). They are your very typical brothers, playing one minute, and biting each other’s throats the next, but at the end of the day they do love each other (or at least thats what we tell ourselves).

So how did a Texas boy and a New York girl meet and fall in love? Great question, with an interesting answer.

Zach moved to Alabama in 2013 to work for his family’s rain gutter business. Alyssa moved to Alabama in 2017 to accept a full time coaching position at a small college. After almost five years of frequenting the same bars, going to the same beaches, hanging out with same people, and somehow never crossing paths, that all finally changed in the spring of 2022 when we were introduced by a mutual friend.

The short and sweet story ends here, but the truth is, our path to falling in love was neither. It wasn’t love at first sight, at least not for one of us (we’ll let you decide which one). And the path to love was not without its bumps. It involved a golf cart, a broken ankle, and a whole lot of chaos…but thats a story for another time 😉

Now our little family is as strong and happy as ever. We cant wait to see what our future holds, and are excited for whoever wants to join us on our journey!
